Frequently asked questions
Where is my case data stored?
On your iPhone in protected local storage. Steward 1.0 has no account, analytics, automatic cloud sync, or app network client.
Does Steward give legal advice?
No. It helps organize records and surface sources. Confirm filing windows, representation rules, recording permission, and strategy with your union or qualified counsel.
Can I record an employer meeting?
Only after you confirm consent or that the rules that apply to you permit recording. If you are unsure or recording is prohibited, use the typed-notes workflow.
What happens without Apple Intelligence?
The complete case workflow still works. Steward uses a deterministic local fallback and labels the analysis source so you know which path produced it.
Can it search a long agreement?
Yes. Steward extracts native PDF text first, uses local OCR only for image-only pages, indexes compact page-aware passages, and returns exact excerpts from the agreements assigned to the case.
How should I report a problem?
Describe the screen, the action you took, what you expected, and the app version. Never attach a real case, agreement, transcript, recording, member name, employer document, or recovery key.
How do I move a case to another steward?
Create an encrypted handoff, then send the package and one-time recovery key through separate channels. Confirm the recipient before either transfer.
Is masking the same as legal redaction?
No. Steward’s name and sensitive-term masking is a review aid. Always inspect the final PDF or Word file before sharing it.
